Sasha Alexeev was born in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg), Russia to a musically talented family. At the age of five, he was accepted to the Vermishev School of music where he studied with some of the premiere music maestros in the Soviet Union.

After immigrating to the United States, Sasha studied piano at the prestigious California Institute of the Arts, working with such teachers as Leonid Hambro and Howard Richman. During that time, he created several original compositions that won local and national acclaim. In addition, Sasha became skilled at the drums, viola, and he took extensive voice training. He graduated! with distinction. Around that time he also won the Seraton International Piano Competition as well as the American Music Festival competition.

Shortly after graduation, Sasha signed with an independent record label and has since been extremely active in the industry, totaling 12 released albums as of this writing. Over the years, most notable was the record deal with Rock Records/BMG which resulted in an album “Winter Tales” featuring solo piano with symphony orchestra. A year later a compilation album entitled “Bridge To The Heart” was released where Sasha is among artists such as Yanni, Marc Hirte, etc. The album features a solo piano piece by Sasha.

Although engaged with many concerts in support of these albums, Sasha still managed to complete his “Symphony no.1 in A minor”, “ Symphony no.2 in D minor”, a Piano Concerto, over 40 solo piano compositions, dance and rock tunes, songs, as well as many other works.

Always in demand for producing various singers and music! ians, Sasha wants in the future to record his symphonies and concerto as well as write music for feature films.

Profile as a Composer

The music of Sasha Alexeev falls in style somewhere between the romantic composers of the 19th century, modern classical and New Age. The blending of the three styles gives birth to his own highly individualistic genre. While some of his works are very technical, all contain a singable, highly melodic line that is easy to remember and understand. Sasha naturally likes to write music that varies from one piece to another in style, in mood and in general feel. Besides roughly 50 solo piano works, which he enjoys writing perhaps the most, his repertoire includes 2 symphonies, a piano concerto, a dozen orchestral works as well as numerous band music. There are also quite a number of songs complete with lyrics that round off his compositional range. Currently Sasha is researching an Opera project which has always been his dream to complete.

If we are to look closer at the variety of Sasha’s works we find one word that describes it all – diversity.

Symphonic Rock – ranging from slow to upbeat, composed for a symphony orchestra/rock drums and piano. For a classically trained pianist this is quiet a step in a fresh direction.
Solo piano – this is usually a combination of Romantic/Classical & New Age styles.
Instrumental small band – usually involving strings/woodwinds and piano

Diverse writing like this underscores Sasha’s ability to create music for a worldwide audience, where classical lovers will appreciate his intense and complicated solo piano works, while fans of easy listening will take to the soft sounds of his strings and piano compositions, still the younger crowd can move to the tunes of his upbeat music.

In the final analysis it can be said that Sasha ‘s music is a style onto itself, a style that is ever growing with the composer in his search for new forms.
